Ashoka GVR Mudhol Nipani Roads Limited (“AGMNRL”) has received a Provisional Completion Certificate for completion of 89.844 KMs of the Project Highway (83% of the total Length). Viva Highways Limited (VHL), implementing the Indore-Sanawad-Khandwa-Burhanpur -Edlabad Road Project SH-27 in the State of Madhya Pradesh on Build -Operate and Transfer (BOT Basis) with Toll Rights, Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, Bhopal (“the Authority”) has taken over the Project on February 18, 2017 at midnight, after the expiry of the concession period as per the terms of the Concession Agreement.     The event was conducted in an Auditorium of Nashik. Mr. Ashish Kataria, Director, Ashoka Concessions Limited, who spearheads the Safety Initiatives by the Company opened the session. He said, “Ashoka has always taken up Road Safety as a serious issue. We are on a mission to make our highways totally accident free, by working hand in hand with government authorities and general public.” He added that in the last three years ‘THE ASHOKA ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN,’ which is conducted annually, in the month of January, has reached out to millions of people with an appeal to respect traffic rules.
    The Ashoka Road Safety campaign includes activities like Road Safety Lessons in Schools and Colleges, Interactive sessions with truck/bus drivers, free eye/health check-up camps, public awareness through public address systems, pamphlet distributions etc. One of Ashoka’s unique initiatives is the Ashoka Highway Research Centre, that has created an online accident reporting software which monitors accidents occurring on highways and finds the root causes in order to control them.
    With years of expertise in road-development, the Company is conscious of the hazards at work zones and deploy advanced road safety measures for all their projects. It has incorporated best industry practices to ensure safety of the Company’s work force as well as the road users. Various donations have been made, for instance, alcohol breath analysers and speed detectors have been provided to police departments in a number of locations and the Company works alongside law enforcement bodies to improve discipline on roads and highways. Felicitation at the Hands of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Munger becomes the first, fully electrified district in the state of Bihar. Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. one of the largest highway developers in the country, though its’ Power Division, has successfully achieved early completion of electrifying the villages of Munger district. This project has once again underscored the EPC strength of the company. Mr. Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar felicitated the Company in a formal function held at the Secretariat, Samwad Bhavan, Patna. The electrification project is part “Deen Dayal Upadhyay Rural Electrification Scheme”, where Ashoka Buildcon Ltd. was given the contract of electrifying the villages of Munger district by the Bihar State Power (Holding) Co. Ltd. The deadline for completion i.e 20 August 2016 was extremely challenging, yet the company was able to complete the task well before deadline. Out of the 27 districts, where projects are being executed by various contractors under this scheme, the Munger project in South Bihar is the first to be completed, that too ahead of schedule. The scheme is very important for several such villages in Bihar that have never been electrified even after so many years of independence. With the completion of this Project Munger district has been declared the first, fully electrified district in the state of Bihar.

  • Ashoka Buildcon Ltd informs that Hon’ble District Court, Pune, has upheld the Arbitral Award in favour of the Company in respect of the Project viz. “Widening to Four Lanes and Strengthening of existing two lanes carriageway improvement of Westerly Diversion to Pune City from (km 0.000 to km 34.423) on NH-4 in the State of Maharashtra.” The said Project was executed by the Company in the year 2000. Thereafter company had preferred a claim against NHAI, the Employer, arising out of execution of work. The Hon’ble Tribunal awarded claims of Rs. 31.88 Crores including interest of Rs. 11.11 Crores till the date of Award i.e. upto May 15, 2008. The NHAI had preferred application u/s. 34 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 before the District Court at Pune (No. 903/08) for setting aside the award. The application of NHAI against the award has been dismissed by the Hon’ble Court on September 28, 2012. The Hon’ble Court has also dismissed the cross application of the company in respect of rejected balance amount claimed. Thus the award in favour of company has been upheld by the District Court Pune and the decision of the District Court is subject to further appeal by NHAI in the High Court. The amount accumulated till the date of upholding of Award by Hon’ble District Court, Pune is i.e. September 28, 2012 is approx. Rs. 48.00 Crores including interest.

  • Ashoka Buildcon Ltd announces the start of toll collection from April 1, 2012 (Commercial Operation Date – COD), for Dhankuni-Kharagpur Project of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), a Project of Designing, Building, Financing, Operation and Maintenance of Four to Six Laning on NH – 6 From Km. 17.600 to Km 129.000 in the State of West Bengal under NHDP Phase – V on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) Toll Basis. The total Project Cost is Rs.2205 Crores and Concession Period of 25 years including Construction Period of 30 months.

  • Ashoka Buildcon Ltd informs that Company had submitted its bid with the National Highways Authority of India (“NHAI”) for Design, Build, Finance and Operation of “Rehabilitation and Up gradation of Four Laning of Cuttack – Angul Section of NH-42 from Km 0.000 to Km 112.000 in the State of Orissa under NHDP Phase IV to be executed as BOT (Toll) on DBFOT Pattern” (“Project”). The project is on Premium Basis with the Concession Period of 23 years and NHAI cost of the Project is Rs. 1123.69 Crores. NHAI has declared the Company as “Successful Bidder” for the aforesaid Project vide Letter of Award dated 30th November 2011.
